Youth Programs

RYDA

Ryda is a partnership program that brings together students, teachers, instructors and Rotary volunteers, to equip participants with the tools to be active and responsible road users.

The intention of the program is to help young road users to understand, through a series of professionally developed modules and workshops, the risks that exist for all road users.  The training will therefore help to make the participants stay safe. Our Club has provided sponsorship so that Year 11 students from Ashwood High could complete the program.

Interact Club

Ashwood High, has an Interact Club, which Rotary Club of Waverley actively supports. The Club is involved in school and community projects. The purpose of Interact is to bring together young people aged between 12 and 18 to develop leadership skills and promote self-development. The Interact goal include taking action to make a difference within the school and community; to have fun and make new friends from around the world. The Interact Club is run along the lines of Rotary Club and as such there is a compatibility with the aims and objectives of both groups.

Addressing Bullying

Our Club has a plan to make a positive contribution towards addressing Bullying. The issue is recognised as an overwhelming challenge, so our focus is the young in our community with a particular attention on schools. We are interested in supporting peer Support Programs; social-emotional learning; and restorative practices. Recognising that our Club does not have specialised knowledge or experience we will engage with and support established programs in the Waverley/Monash area.
